Hopefully you have found out that selling on Ebay can be a profitable adventure. But after you’ve cleared out your garage and attic, and auctioned off everything your husband owns, where can you go to get new product ideas?

How to Take Advantage of Ebay’s Free Resources

Most people don’t realize that eBay itself is actually a terrific place to find product sourcing ideas. There is a goldmine of information that will give you not only traffic but what that traffic is actully interested in. The Seller Central Page located on EBay is a well hidden secret. Only a very few have any knowledge about this powerful resourse. Therefore, even though there are numerous free tools most Ebayers, even Powersellers, aren’t making use of it:

THE MERCHANDISING CALENDAR – If you want to know what products eBay will be promoting this is the place you want to go for that information. You will find out which categories and which dates you will need to list your product in the be displayed on the homepage of Ebay. Your own personal auction will be shown when a user clicks on that item.

THE HOT ITEMS SECTION – this is basically a monthly trend-watching report. The best things about this is it will let you know what items are getting the most bids and the best prices. It lets you get a feel for where the demand is. As you go to Garage Sales, Rummage Sales and Auctions it is important that you have a list of the best selling items on Ebay so that you’ll know to buy it when you find them.

THE HOT CATEGORIES SECTION – This resource will give you the top categories and also let’s you know how to sell your items, plus secrets about the buyers and any trending information. For each category, there’s a section called ‘In Demand’ that tells you not only the top-selling items in that category, but also the top keywords that buyers are using to find these items. Be sure and use those keywords in your listing titles. Whatever keywords that you don’t use in your listing title you will want to use in your description. Isn’t it nice that Ebay lets you know what you should sell and also the best way you should list it.

Meeting Your Customers Needs

Advises Elms, “Don’t ever try to sell to the buyer what you think they need to own.” Users are already telling you what they want to buy — you just have to listen. The use of these free tools give you an advantage over other sellers by know what Ebayers are looking for and what words they are using to look for it. Ebayers are willing and ready to give you their money as long as you give them what they are looking for.

Now you can find all the products you need at at http://www.simplewaytoauctionprofits.com

Waterford Crystal 12 Days of Christmas on Ebay

The following information about Waterford Crystal was taken from their website.

Waterford Crystal story was started in 1783 when two brothers, George and William Penrose, founded their crystal manufacturing business in the busy port of Waterford. They were important developers and the city’s principal exporters.

They employed 50 to 70 people, led by a fellow Quaker, John Hill, from Stourbridge in England, and succeeded in producing crystal with a purity of colour unmatched in Ireland or England. Merchant ships sailed regularly from the port of Waterford with cargoes of crystal bound for Spain, the West Indies, New York, New England and Newfoundland.

But less than 100 years later the initial company failed due to lack of capital and excessive taxation. In what seems a remarkably short time, Waterford Crystal acquired an unequalled reputation that has transcended the intervening centuries.

Another century passed before the enterprise was revived. In 1947, while Europe was still in ruins after the second World War, a small glass factory was set up in Waterford just 11/2 miles from the site of the original glass factory.

Today Waterford Crystal is the leading brand of premium crystal.

The brand’s reputation among its target market – upscale men and women – in its major markets is such that it has taken the brand to the heights that it now occupies. The target consumers simply regard Waterford Crystal as the best for self and gift purchase.

Recent research has confirmed the standing of Waterford Crystal in both the US and the UK.

In November 2000, Waterford Crystal was named as the top world class brand in the United States by a survey conducted among 30,000 people by the Princeton, New Jersey, based independent market research company, Total Research Corporation. Total Research said that Waterford Crystal was judged by American consumers as the brand with the highest quality out of 19 world class brands in the US market. Other brands in the league table below Waterford include Rolls-Royce Bentley, Bose stereo and speaker systems, Philadelphia cream cheese, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Kodak, Heinz ketchup and National Geographic magazine.

Waterford Crystal has become almost a synonym for the finest quality crystal sought after by collectors and connoisseurs around the world. Each piece of Waterford can be recognised by the signature on the base with the word “Waterford”, the name of the finest crystal in the world.

And that brings us to my Waterford Crystal listing. “12 Days of Christmas” champagne flutes are both beautiful and elegant. The Waterford Crystal I have listed are for the first 8 flutes and the special storage box. Take a look and see how awesome this is.

Is Ebay in trouble? All indicators are that they are. It has been reported that their traffic has reached a five year low. One of the reasons that traffic has been so low is simply due to Ebay starting their Ebay Partner Network or EPN as many marketers know it by. Because of low traffic many dealers are packing their wares and leaving. They blame high fees and the change in the in their feedback policy along with not enough visitors.

From an internet marketer standpoint I believe that Ebay leaving Commission Junction and starting their Ebay Partner Network should have been more carefully though out. Before, you just had to sign up with Commission Junction and start routing customers to Ebay. Now you have to get through the hallowed doors of Ebay Partner Network to start making money through Ebay. They have become very particular about who they allow to enter the hallowed doors of EPN and because of that they are leaving a lot of money on the table.

It only makes sense that the more people you drive to your site the more sales you’ll be able to make. Why try and stop traffic? I honestly don’t understand EBay’s reasoning. It is to make sure that the person applying are honest in their dealings? But Ebay has more security sources available to the then most online companies. They have the resources of all of Ebay and PayPal to use and because of that fraud has dropped dramatically on Ebay. Other companies like Amazon have an Associate Program in place but they are much more lenient when approving associates to drive traffic to them. And because of that Amazon is doing very well in the marketplace.

So what should Ebay do differently? First and foremost get rid of EPN or change it to where you allow reputable Ebay sellers participate in it. They should also restructure their fees and become more competitive. The more you charge the more people you are going to be running away. Lower your fees and bring more dealers in to sell. Then they should also change their feedback system. Let the seller have some say. I personally have had several people over the years buy something but not pay for it. Sure Ebay will give me back my “final fees” but what about my listing fees? That money is gone forever. If a buyer has the possibility of negative feedback hanging over their head they might think twice about bidding. The ironic thing is that Ebay changed the feedback program to make the bidders feel more secure and hopefully bring more traffic to them. But then on the other hand they changed their associate program and severely stop a lot of traffic from coming to Ebay. Here’s hoping that Ebay will soon change the way they operate their EPN program and make it more accessable to normal marketers and not just the “big boys”

Hopefully Ebay will start changing their ways and make it better for both the buyers and sellers.
